Hugo’s Jenna Skelton – Cheer Spotlight – Presented by Jay Hodge Dodge of Hugo

Jenna Skelton, a dedicated cheerleader from Hugo High School, stands out not only for her passion for the sport but also for the profound impact her coaches, teammates, and teachers have had on her life.

When asked about her favorite coach, Jenna singled out Mehlenie Adamson, who has been a constant source of encouragement throughout her cheerleading journey. “She has been my coach since I was little and has always been so encouraging.” Coach Adamson’s unwavering support has played a pivotal role in shaping Jenna’s cheerleading career.

Jenna’s admiration extends to her teammates, who have consistently motivated and uplifted her. “All of my teammates are really good at motivating me and encouraging me every day.” The camaraderie among her peers has fostered a positive and empowering cheerleading environment.

Reflecting on her favorite teacher, Jenna highlighted Keslie Lopez, her current cheer coach, who has not only imparted valuable cheerleading knowledge but has also pushed Jenna to excel in various aspects of life. “Keslie Lopez has taught me everything I know and has pushed me to do my best not only in cheer but in my life.”

In preparation for the upcoming season, Jenna focused on maintaining her fitness and diligently setting goals to ensure her readiness for the challenges ahead.

Cheerleading has taught Jenna the importance of selflessness, emphasizing the significance of putting others before oneself—a lesson she carries into her daily life.

Jenna’s favorite memory in cheerleading is making it to the state championship two years in a row, a testament to her hard work and dedication.

Looking ahead to the current season, Jenna aspires to excel at the state championship, aiming to surpass the team’s previous regional score.

One matchup that Jenna is eagerly anticipating this season is the opportunity to compete at state, where she hopes to showcase her team’s talent and determination.

Beyond high school, Jenna has ambitious plans to attend East Central University and pursue a career as a labor and delivery nurse—a testament to her dedication to helping others.
