RATTAN RAMS

BOYS

Coach: MICHAEL CLAY

23-24 Record: 28-4

With three returning starters and a talented mix of seniors and underclassmen, head coach Michael Clay is gearing up for a competitive season. “I expect us to play an up-tempo, man-to-man defense and use our athletes to cause turnovers for easier buckets,” Clay said. He believes his team has the talent and depth to be a serious contender for a state championship. Coming off a stellar 28-4 season, the Rams are ready to build on their success.

Leading the charge is James Childers (6-0, Forward, Sr.), a senior who will bring experience and leadership on the floor. “James is one of our three returning starters, and he’s capable of getting 20 a game,” Clay explained. Canyon James (6-2, Jr.), another returning starter, is a versatile player who can score from beyond the arc, drive to the rim, and post up in the lane. “He’s probably our best player in the playoffs last year,” said Clay. “Canyon is athletic, has a high basketball IQ, and can play above the rim.”

Sophomore standout Kobe Tabor (5-11, Guard, So.) is poised to make a big impact this season. “Kobe is a great player. He has the ability to take over a game and was our best player as a freshman last year at times. I would put him up against anyone. I look for him to be our leader this year as a sophomore,” Clay noted. Keller Shockey (5-10, Forward, Sr.), another senior, will provide valuable spacing with his shooting ability, making him a key player to keep defenders spread across the court. “He is going to make a huge impact this year.”

Adding size and presence in the paint is Ben Copeland (6-3, Center, Jr.), who Clay describes as an athletic player who will control the boards. Coben Gorden (6-1, Forward, Jr.) also returns with a sharp shooting touch from beyond the arc and a knack for moving well without the ball. Providing additional defensive support and shooting off the bench is senior Aidan Haddox (5-10, Guard, Sr.), whose athleticism is expected to shine on both ends of the court.

The Rams have a full roster of talented players, including Haylen Wade (5-10, Guard, Jr.), Luke Bohannon (5-8, Guard, So.), and Tryan Teague (6-0, Forward, So.). Freshmen like Landon Leathers (5-10, Guard, Fr.), Baylor Reese (5-9, Guard, Fr.), and Preston Courtwright (6-2, Forward, Fr.) bring energy and a promising future to the team. The roster is rounded out by Bentley McCullar (5-9, Guard, Fr.), Cameron Hammons (5-8, Guard, Fr.), Bradley Sam (5-9, Guard, Fr.), Tracer Rutledge (5-9, Guard, Fr) and Kaleb Mason (5-8, Guard, Fr.), each ready to contribute to the team’s goals.
