Antlers Raycton Low – Baseball Spotlight – Presented by Pine Cellular

For Raycton Low, baseball began as a simple pastime with friends and grew into a deep passion that has shaped his life. “All of my friends first got me started in baseball when I was young, but then after I started, the passion for the game really took over from there,” he shares. That passion has carried him through his years at Antlers High School, where he plays a key role on the baseball team.
Raycton credits much of his inspiration to professional athletes like Shane Bieber and Bryce Harper. “They’re my biggest influences,” he says. “I love the way they approach the game with intensity and respect.” He channels that same energy into his own play, particularly in motivating his teammates. “My role on the team is definitely to keep the team motivated and going,” Raycton explains.
Team chemistry is a major strength for the Antlers baseball program this year. “It’s very high, especially with our team filled with upperclassmen,” Raycton notes. This strong bond fuels their shared goals, including a deep playoff run. “Our goal is to win district and make a deep playoff run,” he states confidently.
Training is a key part of Raycton’s preparation. “A typical week for me is filled with batting cage drills, bullpens, and long toss,” he says. This disciplined routine reflects his commitment to improving his game. Raycton also recalls one of his favorite moments from last season: “When we hit a combined nine home runs in one day in our doubleheader vs. Tishomingo. That was an unforgettable day for our team.”
Though Raycton’s football career ended due to an injury, he has used that setback to focus on other areas. “Getting injured during football season and not being able to play anymore was tough,” he admits. “But I got over it by pursuing my love for basketball and baseball.”
Looking to the future, Raycton plans to attend OSU IT to pursue a degree in civil engineering and surveying. “With my injury from football, I can’t really continue playing sports in college,” he says. “But I’ll carry the lessons I’ve learned from sports into my life.”
Raycton appreciates the support of his coaches, friends, teammates, and family, and his advice to younger players is simple yet profound: “Failure is just another step to success.”
