Atoka Wampus Cats Baseball Team – Presented by Stuteville Ford of Atoka

The Atoka Wampus Cats baseball team enters the 2024 season with a balanced roster of seasoned leaders and promising young talent. Head coach Trevor Cook emphasizes the team’s commitment to growth and competition, making daily improvement the central focus.

“Our team has a good mix of older and younger players,” said Cook. “We’re going to go out and compete every day. The goal is to get better each and every day we take the field.”

Senior Jackson Scott will be a cornerstone for the Wampus Cats this season, serving as both a key arm on the mound and a power hitter in the middle of the lineup. “Jaxson gives us a chance to win when he’s on the mound,” said Cook. “He’s a leader for us.” His dual-threat capabilities and leadership make him a critical piece for Atoka.

Freshman Remington Hendon is a versatile player who will contribute as a catcher and outfielder while also providing offensive firepower. “Remington is a freshman, but he’s already showing that he can help us both in the field and at the plate,” said Cook.

Junior Jax Slade stands out for his relentless work ethic and supportive attitude. “Jax is the ultimate teammate,” said Cook. “He’s a hard worker, always there for everyone, and gives his best every day.”

Freshman Axel Smithart is another versatile addition, splitting time as a catcher and outfielder. “Axel is a very hard worker and a big addition to our team,” Cook noted. His involvement in FFA showcases his well-rounded character and commitment.

Senior Noah Walker embodies the team’s values both on and off the field. A key bat and dependable first baseman, Noah’s strong work ethic and positive attitude set the tone for the team. “Noah is a phenomenal teammate,” said Cook. “He’s heavily involved on campus and in his local church.”

The Wampus Cats are poised for a competitive season, leaning on their mix of veteran leadership and youthful enthusiasm. Coach Cook’s focus on daily improvement and team chemistry creates a foundation for growth and success. With players like Jackson Scott providing stability and young talents such as Remington Hendon and Axel Smithartstepping up, Atoka is set to make strides this spring. Keep an eye on the Wampus Cats as they aim to leave their mark in the 2024 season.
