VYPE: Can you tell us a little about yourself and how you got started in your sport?

Dakerrious Wilson: I’m 17. I love playing sports and I enjoy hanging out with friends and family.

VYPE: What inspired you to play your sport, and who are your biggest influences?

DW: My big brother inspired me to play just watching him when I was little made me want to play and I grew a passion for the game.

VYPE: How would you describe the team’s chemistry this season?

DW: I think the team chemistry is going to be great this year. A lot of us have played with each other since we were little. Everybody is uplifting one another and not tearing each other down.

VYPE: What is your specific role on the team, and how do you prepare for it?

DW: My role on the team is to uplift everyone, no matter how the game is going.

VYPE: What are your goals and hopes for this season?

DW: Our goal is to win the district championship and make a playoff run.

VYPE: What does a typical week of training look like for you?

DW: A typical week for me consists of driveline, tee work and lifting.

VYPE: What has been the most challenging moment in your sports career so far, and how did you overcome it?

DW: Tweaking my knee last year and not being 100 percent was pretty hard on me.

VYPE: Can you share a highlight or memorable moment from last season?

DW: Going to regionals last year is a something I’ll always cherish.

VYPE: Where do you see yourself in five years, both in sports and outside of it?

DW: In five years, I see my self graduating college and looking to start my own business.

VYPE: How important is community support to the team, and in what ways does it impact your performance?

DW: Community support is everything to us; when the stands are packed and we get the win, there isn’t a better feeling.

VYPE: Who do you look up to as a role model, both on and off the field?

DW: Coach Sheir; he puts in countless hours to make sure we are ready for game days and helps us strive to be better men.

VYPE: Is there anyone you’d like to thank for supporting you throughout your journey?

DW: I would like to thank God for giving me the ability and passion to play the game that I love and I would also like to thank my friends and family for pushing me to be better.

VYPE: What are your plans after graduating from high school? Are you considering playing sports in college?

After graduating, I plan on going to Southeastern and pursuing a business management degree and starting my own business.
