Atoka’s Jaxson Scott – Baseball Spotlight – Presented by Stuteville Ford of Atoka

Jaxson Scott’s journey in baseball didn’t start with instant love for the game. “I pitch and play third base,” he said. “I started playing at around four or five because it interested me the most, but I didn’t fall in love with the sport until my freshman year.” That turning point helped shape the competitor he is today, pushing him to refine his skills and take on a leadership role for the Wampus Cats.

Scott’s biggest influence on the field has always been close to home. “What inspired me to play was definitely my dad’s stories and his drive to help me be great,” he said. “I wanted to be like him, and he was definitely my biggest influence.” That inspiration fuels his relentless work ethic and passion for the game.

Team chemistry is a huge part of Atoka baseball, and Scott values the bond he shares with his teammates. “Everyone on the team is really close. Before every home game, we all go eat at Subway,” he said. “We always try to support each other in every way, with baseball and grades and stuff like that.” He also takes pride in being someone his team can count on. “I’d say I’m the leader of the team. I try to keep everyone’s hopes up through all of our downs, and I try my best to give the team the momentum and encouragement we need to win.”

After a tough season, Scott is determined to help turn things around. “Definitely coming off a losing season, that’s always rough,” he admitted. “We are working as a team to try and eliminate errors and win more games this year.” His personal goals reflect that drive for improvement. “My goals are to hit 85 and hit five home runs.”

Looking ahead, Scott hopes to take his game to the next level. “I either see myself hopefully still playing baseball in college or working somewhere,” he said. But regardless of where he ends up, he’ll always carry the lessons he’s learned on the field. “I’d like to thank the big man upstairs, my family, my girlfriend and other friends, and all my coaches throughout the years.”
