Coalgate’s Bryson Stowe – Track Spotlight – Presented by SafeGuard Insurance Solutions

Some athletes grow into their sport over time, and for Bryson Stowe, track didn’t click right away—but when it did, everything changed. “I started running track in middle school. I didn’t really care for it much, but when I got into high school, I got some great coaches and a great team that really helped me and inspired me to be better at track,” said Bryson, a standout sprinter for Coalgate High School.

His journey has been shaped by strong influences, especially from home and the coaching staff. “My dad has been really big into sports and that got me into it from day one,” Bryson said. “I would say my coaches are my biggest influence and are always pushing me to be the best I can be.”

Bryson’s role on the relay squad is crucial, and he embraces the responsibility. “My role on the team is to start the races and get us ahead. I prepare for the races by stretching and getting myself right mentally.”

With both individual and team goals in mind, Bryson is aiming high this season. “My goals and hopes for the season are to get my personal record in every race and continue getting better throughout the season. I want to medal in state for the 100 and 200. My goals and hopes for the team are to win state in the 4×100 and 4×200.”

Behind those goals is a focused weekly routine. “A typical week would be Monday and Tuesdays are hard conditioning days, Wednesday is more of a stamina day, we practice handoffs and run a lot of long distance. Thursday’s more of a rest day—we ice bath, use a TENS unit and stretch out. Friday is go-time. We are ready to run.”

When asked what advice he’d offer to younger athletes, Bryson keeps it simple and real: “Don’t listen to what people have to say. Just work as hard as you can. Don’t miss practice, really give it all you got and do what you are told to do.”

Whether it’s on the track or in the weight room, Bryson Stowe is sprinting toward success—one stride at a time.
