Antlers’ Sadie Hill
Whether she’s handling a hard-hit ball at third base or stepping into the batter’s box looking for a pitch she can drive, Antlers senior Sadie Hill approaches softball with the same mindset: stay positive, work hard and keep pushing forward. Those values have guided her throughout her career and helped make her a respected teammate and leader within the Lady Bearcats program.
“I’ve been inspired by a few great coaches who have pushed me to work hard and have always set a good example,” Hill said.
As a senior, Hill has embraced both leadership and perspective, helping foster the positive culture she values most about the Antlers softball program. She said the team’s chemistry is what makes the experience special. “The thing I enjoy most about being a member of my team is everyone gets along well and we always have fun,” Hill said. “I love that my team always gets along and has fun.”
That emphasis on encouragement is something Hill believes is essential to the game itself. She points to what she calls softball’s best unwritten rule: maintaining a supportive attitude.
“Everyone should be encouraging and keep a good attitude,” she said.
Hill plays third base, one of the most demanding infield positions, where quick reactions and confidence are critical. She said handling hard-hit balls — often referred to as “hot shots” — is the biggest challenge.
“The most difficult thing is fielding the hot balls,” Hill said.
Her steady mindset reflects a broader lesson she has taken from athletics, one she believes will carry beyond high school.
“Athletics have taught me not to give up when it gets hard,” Hill said.
Hill also values the personalities that make up her team. She highlighted teammate Lauren Burrage as both a leader and a source of energy.
“Lauren Burrage is the most vocal and always keeps us laughing,” Hill said.
Off the field, Hill enjoys spending time with friends, relaxing and unwinding from the demands of a competitive season. In the classroom, she favors math and appreciates the many teachers who have supported her academic journey.
“I have too many favorite teachers to name just one,” she said.
As her senior year ends, Hill leaves behind more than statistics. Her commitment to positivity, perseverance and teamwork reflects the kind of player and teammate every program strives to develop.
Whether diving for a hard-hit ball at third base or stepping into the batter’s box, Hill represents the standard she believes in: work hard, stay positive and never quit.
