Durant’s Kate Wallentine – Academic Team Spotlight – Presented by QC Kinetix

In the halls of Durant High School, Kate Wallentine, a determined sophomore, has carved her path in the academic realm with fervor and resolve. From her initiation into the academic team to her aspirations of a future in psychology, Kate’s journey is marked by perseverance and a thirst for knowledge.

When asked about her foray into the academic team, Kate reveals that it was the team sponsor’s belief in her abilities that ignited her interest. “The academic team sponsor reached out to me… she thought that I would excel at it,” Kate shared.

Among the many experiences she treasures, Kate holds dear the memories of bonding with her teammates during the area competitions. “When we went to area… I got the opportunity to bond with the other team members and grow in my academic team career.”

With a penchant for numbers, Kate finds solace in the mathematical portions of the competitions. “I really enjoy the math portions… I am usually able to get them correct.”

To prepare for the rigorous competitions, Kate diligently goes over Quizlets to review her learnings. “I typically go over Quizlets to review what I have already learned,” she said.

For Kate, the academic team isn’t just about answering questions—it’s about personal growth and camaraderie. “Being able to spend time with other people that enjoy the same things as me has helped me grow as a person,” she acknowledged, recognizing the transformative power of teamwork and shared passion.

In the face of challenges, Kate and her team remain steadfast, encouraging each other to persevere even when the odds seem insurmountable. “When the other team is ahead, we have to stay determined and encourage each other to do our best,” she affirmed.

As she navigates the demands of academic competitions, Kate’s advice to aspiring team members is simple yet profound: stay determined and study diligently. “I would suggest that they would stay determined even if it seems tough, and study as much as possible.”

Looking ahead, Kate Wallentine envisions a future in psychology, aspiring to become a clinical psychologist or therapist. “I am planning on going to college and majoring in psychology,” she shared, casting her light towards a future where she can use her skills to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
