Atoka’s Sean Allen is channeling Hank Williams Jr. by keeping “a family tradition” alive.
VYPE: What track event(s) do you participate in?
Sean: I pole vault.
VYPE: What do you enjoy most about your sport?
Sean: I like to win.
VYPE: What made you decide to start playing your sport?
Sean: Both of my sisters pole vaulted so I had to carry on the tradition.
VYPE: What is the biggest lesson you have learned from your sport?
Sean: I learned not to be afraid of heights.
VYPE: What do you do to lead your team?
Sean: I Host team BBQs every Friday night.
VYPE: What advice would you give to someone who wants to play your sport?
Sean: Don’t be afraid of heights.
VYPE: Who is your biggest role model?
Sean: I’d say my biggest role model is Rocky Balboa. I really appreciate his underdog mentality and relate to it so much.
VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?
Sean: I’d say that I’m passionate about my sport so much because I can see progress through my hard work, which is the most rewarding thing.
VYPE: Which teacher has made the biggest impact on you?
Sean: Coach Wingo has definitely made the biggest impact on me throughout my entire life and I look up to him quite a bit.
