Stringtown’s Keisean and Keylon Shields – Presented by Stuteville Ford of Atoka

It’s something special when a high school basketball player reaches the 1,000-point club and it’s rare when two players on the same team reach the mark simultaneously. But for what may be the first time in Oklahoma high school basketball history, there are two brothers that earned this feat.

Both Keylon and Keisean Shields have each eclipsed the 1k mark while playing for the Stringtown Tigers.

“It’s pretty special for us to do this at the same time,” said Keylon, the older brother who, by his own admission, stands just 5-foot-2 with his shoes on. “We’ve played together all of our lives and the chemistry we’ve developed along with our teammates lets each of us know what the other is going to do most of the time before it happens.”

The younger brother, Keisean, who stands 5-foot-8-inches, confirms the backyard basketball games at the house have made each of them better players.

“We go at each other until one of us quits or we get into a fight and mom has to blow the whistle and stop the game,” said Keisean, who just finished his junior season with the Stringtown squad. He has over 1,250 points with a year remaining. “Keylon handles the ball for us and I know that he’s always looking to give it up for a better shot. But at our house, I’m going to win.”

Off the court, Keylon and Keisean work to be an influence for others to follow including their younger siblings and credit the inspiration of their mother for holding the two accountable.

“Mom [Resheeda Harrison] has raised seven kids and she expects all of us to toe the line,” said Keylon.

The competitiveness between the pair is a natural rivalry and so are many of their other similarities. Both enjoy the rap music of Rod Wave but the two vary in their choice of food and desserts.

“I’m going to order a bacon cheeseburger and I love chocolate chip cookies,” said Keylon, who finished his career with more than 1,300 points wearing the Stringtown blue and gold uniform.

“I always will choose a Subway sandwich but let me ask you, have you tried chocolate chip pizza? That’s my favorite dessert. It’’s awesome,” said Keisean.
