Caddo’s Presley Beck – Softball Spotlight – Presented by Cherokee Communications
For Caddo senior Presley Beck, the game of softball is about more than competition — it’s about relationships. “We go through many ups and downs, but we are always by each other’s side,” Beck said. “Someone is always there, picking up their teammate when they are having a bad game. We aren’t just a team; we are a family.”
That family atmosphere has shaped how Beck approaches her senior year. “My personal goals for this season are to be the best leader and teammate I can be,” she said. “I also want to try to focus on taking every little moment in and savoring the moments I have with the people I love.”
Her teammates share that vision, and it’s reflected in the way they support each other on and off the field. “The morale has been good this year,” Beck explained. “I think we are very good at being good teammates and picking each other up when we need it most.”
Still, growth has been an important part of their journey. “The biggest improvement I’ve seen so far is our body language,” she said. “At the beginning, we had a hard time with body language and getting really down on ourselves. We have gotten a lot better when it comes to moving on fast and not letting our mistakes define us.”
That improvement matters with big goals ahead. “Our goal this year is to make it to the state tournament,” Beck said. “We are working very hard in practices and games leading up to the state tournament.”
As the team’s catcher, Beck takes on both a leadership and tactical role. “I mostly look at if the outfield is shifted or if they are scooted up or back,” she said. And preparation is key to her success. “I work on practicing how I want to play,” she added. “I try to practice as hard as possible to prepare myself for when it is time to play a game.”
Beck’s dedication has produced plenty of memories, but one stands tallest. “My favorite memory is winning six state championships,” she said.
Her plans for the future are ambitious: “I plan to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Nebraska Omaha and major in speech pathology.”
