COALGATE WILDCATS

COACH: Josh Talley

Record: 5-19

OUTLOOK

With a young but determined roster, the Coalgate Wildcats enter the 2025-26 season under head coach Josh Talley ready to compete, grow, and build momentum for the future. After a 5-19 campaign a year ago, Talley believes his group’s balance and athleticism will make them an exciting team to watch as they continue to develop chemistry and confidence.

“We return three starters off of last year’s team,” said Talley. “We have no seniors on the team. We should be well balanced with height and speed and be able to get the ball up and down the floor.”

That balance will come from a strong junior class that leads the charge for the Wildcats. Seven Williams (Jr.), Treylin Henderson (Jr.), Blake Brown (Jr.), and Ernest Smith (Jr.) bring valuable varsity experience and will play major roles in setting the tone both offensively and defensively. Their ability to run the floor, rebound, and defend will be key to Coalgate’s identity.

“Our players are taking on different roles this season,” Talley said. “That could lead to some growing pains early, but as the season goes, we’ll hopefully be playing our best basketball and be a tough team to beat.”

The sophomore class is deep and talented, featuring Trevor Talley (So.), Davis Grant (So.), Trae Francis (So.), Easton Loudemilk (So.), Carter Adams (So.), and Bin Nguyen (So.) — all of whom will see opportunities to make an impact. Adding even more depth is a promising freshman group led by Brick Madden (Fr.), Tucker Ward (Fr.), Weston Lackey (Fr.), Zane Wright (Fr.), and Jayce Wood (Fr.), who give the Wildcats a foundation for the future.

While youth defines this year’s roster, Talley sees it as a strength rather than a setback.

With balance, speed, and a shared drive to grow, the Coalgate Wildcats are laying the groundwork for an exciting season — and a bright future.
