DURANT LIONS
COACH: Aaron George
Record: 9-14
OUTLOOK
After a rebuilding year, the Durant Lions boys’ basketball team is focused on growth and grit heading into the 2025-2026 season. Head coach Aaron George, now in his 11th year at the helm, knows his team may be young, but he believes their effort and energy will make them a tough out for anyone they face.
“Very young but willing to work and play hard,” said George. “They have some talent, just need some experience. Undersized but will fly around and make up for it by hustle.”
That mindset will be key as the Lions look to improve on last year’s 9-14 record. Leading the way is senior forward Tashaun Williams (6-3), who averaged eight points, five rebounds, and three steals per game. Williams’ length, athleticism, and defensive intensity give Durant an anchor on both ends of the floor. Alongside him is fellow senior Leon Stone (6-1, G), a steady presence in the backcourt who contributed four points, two rebounds, and two assists a night.
“Leon and Tashaun are both seniors who set the tone for us with their effort and leadership,” George said.
In the junior class, Joseph Flores (5-7, G) returns as a sparkplug guard who averaged five points, three rebounds, and three assists. His quickness and ability to distribute the ball make him a key piece in George’s up-tempo system. TJ Lindly (5-7, G) also provides depth and ball-handling ability, helping keep the Lions’ perimeter play fast and aggressive.
Two sophomores — Boston Browder (6-3, F) and Malachi Valliere (6-0, G) — round out a promising young core that’s already earning valuable varsity experience. “We’ve got some young guys who are learning every day and not afraid of hard work,” said George. “
For the Lions, it’s all about effort, development, and staying hungry. With a mix of upperclassmen leadership and underclassmen potential, Durant’s determination could turn a rebuilding season into a breakthrough one.
