DURANT LIONS
Coach: TODD VARGAS
2-9
OFFENSE
Experience and explosiveness headline the 2025 Durant Lions, and head coach Todd Vargas is excited about what lies ahead. “Durant is led by 24 seniors,” said Vargas. “Senior leadership will be the highest ever.” With seven starters back on offense, the Lions have both veteran presence and playmakers to watch every Friday night.
Quarterback Cole Robbins (6-0, 185, Sr.) returns as a four-year starter and the engine of the Lions’ multiple spread offense. “Cole is a dual-threat QB,” said Vargas. “Explosive runner and big arm!” The Lions utilize a gap-scheme run game paired with a run-and-shoot passing attack, built to take advantage of Robbins’ dynamic skill set.
Helping power the ground game is Stephen Manhard (5-10, 190, Sr.), who brings toughness and consistency to the backfield. The offensive line is anchored by a pair of senior standouts: Grant Bull (6-2, 275, Sr.) and Max Airington (6-2, 285, Sr.). Their physicality and leadership will be critical in establishing the line of scrimmage. “We have the most talent we’ve had in a long time,” Vargas said.
At wide receiver, the Lions return Colton Poore (5-10, 165, Sr.) and Kacin Mazey (5-10, 165, Sr.), giving Robbins solid targets and the offense needed balance.
DEFENSE
With eight returning starters, the Durant defense is set to be fast and aggressive. “Defensively, we’ll be multiple with a lot of speed and run to the ball well,” said Vargas. The Lions employ a multiple odd-front scheme designed to attack and disrupt.
Linebackers Axel Thurman (5-10, 200, Sr.) and Jayden Rangel (6-2, 240, Sr.) bring size and experience to the middle of the defense, while the defensive line is led by Colton Yarbrough (6-6, 265, Jr.), the top-ranked 2026 player in Oklahoma and Arkansas Razorback commit. “He’s a difference maker,” Vargas added.
Cornerbacks Holdan Robinson (6-2, 180, Sr.) and Cleveland Williamson (6-2, 175, Sr.) give the Lions length and athleticism on the perimeter.
Senior lineman Grant Bull is also recognized for his leadership and integrity. “Grant is a great kid with impeccable character,” said Vargas.
As the 2025 season approaches, coach Vargas and the Lions are ready to turn experience into results. “We’re excited for the 2025 season,” he said.
