Tashaun Williams

Durant High School

By Angela Brunk

Tashaun Williams, a senior at Durant High School, is a standout athlete whose talent and dedication have made him one of the most respected players in his program. Competing in both basketball and track, Williams brings intensity, leadership, and focus to every practice and game. On the basketball court, he plays the small forward and power forward positions, using his versatility and strength to make an impact on both ends of the floor.

For Williams, his motivation is simple. It’s for the love of the game. Basketball has always been more than just a sport to him; it’s a passion that fuels his drive to improve each day. His parents have been his biggest role models, showing him what it means to work hard, stay humble, and remain focused on goals no matter the circumstances. Their support has been the foundation for his growth both as an athlete and as a person.

Another major influence in Williams’ basketball journey has been Coach Corwin, whose guidance has played a key role in building Williams’ confidence. Coach Corwin’s commitment to his players goes beyond just coaching. He consistently provides advice on how to improve and motivates the team with his energy and belief in their potential. Williams described Coach Corwin as always knowing how to boost the energy level of the whole team.

Becoming successful in basketball has required hours upon hours in the gym, mastering skills, and improving endurance. Equally important, Williams understands the value of proper recovery after games and practices to maintain peak performance throughout the season.

One of the highlights of his career came during his 17U AAU season, a memorable experience where he played under an exceptional coaching staff and formed lifelong bonds with teammates who felt more like family.

Looking ahead, Williams plans to continue playing basketball in college while using his senior year as a stepping stone toward that goal.

Representing Durant High School means everything to Williams. It’s a source of pride to wear the Durant jersey, especially knowing that many people in the community recognize his name and respect the way he plays the game, with heart, passion, and dedication.
