There’s a certain energy that surrounds a senior season—an urgency, a sense of gratitude, and a determination to finish strong. For Hugo cheerleader Kacie Reynolds, that feeling has shaped every part of her final year. “My personal goals for this season are to make every moment count, since this is my last year, I want to give my all in everything I do; skill-wise, I would love to get a running BHS full!”
That drive mirrors the momentum her team has built throughout the year. “The team morale has been great. Earning the regional champion and state runner-up title has definitely shown us how far we have come and how great we work together as a team.” Their growth hasn’t come by accident—it’s been a season of intentional, disciplined effort. “The biggest improvement I have seen from the team so far is our work ethic. This year, we really changed our mindsets to work harder than we have in the past. The hard work paid off in the end!”
The Lady Buffaloes set a championship standard early, and they nearly reached the mountaintop. “The team’s greatest goal was to be state champions. We fell short by only 1 point…but we are still grateful for the opportunity to show our talent.” Their preparation was demanding and relentless. “We worked towards these goals, working from May to September. Through those four months, we woke up at 6 am and ran a mile on the track before practice. Then we went through and meticulously sorted through each area of our routine to perfect every aspect, day by day.”
Kacie fills several roles on the mat and takes pride in lifting others up. “The roles I play on my team are main base, tumble, and I try my best to encourage all my teammates.” When learning new material, she always looks for what will excite the crowd. “I look for the creativity of the cheer and how we can engage the crowd to get them pumped up.”
Her preparation is as serious as her performance. “I make sure that I am consuming enough protein and carbs…weightlifting…doing cardio…and getting enough sleep to rest and reset my body.” And when it’s time to perform, her mindset is grounded in faith. “I can do all things through Christ, who gives me strength.”
Kacie hopes her legacy reflects who she is beyond the uniform: “Positive, kind, and hardworking.”
A standout cheerleader, student, and leader, Kacie Reynolds also participates in tennis, Student Council, Interact Club, FCA, Student Advisory Council, and Praise Team. Her future plans are clear: “To major in human health and biology to become an orthodontist.”
