Rattan’s Landrie Ross
Landrie Ross, a senior at Rattan High School, has learned to measure success by growth, resilience, and the way she responds when life gets difficult. A dedicated athlete in softball and basketball, she has faced challenges that changed her perspective and strengthened her mindset both on and off the field.
For Ross, her proudest accomplishment is not tied to sports, but to overcoming a difficult experience that tested her in a personal way.
“I went through a very difficult life-changing situation,” Ross said. “It cut me down pretty bad, but I found who I was again and now I strive for the better every single day and never take anything for granted.”
That experience shaped how she views failure and perseverance in everyday life.
“Failure is going to happen,” she said. “You’re going to fail not only in sports but in life. But you won’t stay there. You grow and learn from it. It makes you stronger, not only physically but mentally.”
At school, Ross credits Mrs. Rogers for making class an environment where students can learn and still enjoy themselves.
“Mrs. Rogers taught us it’s okay to laugh and enjoy school… we still got our work done but she made it fun,” Ross said.
On the court and field, Ross leans on longtime teammate Abby Crow, who has been a constant source of support and motivation.
“We have been playing ball together since I could remember. She has helped me at my lowest points when I didn’t want to show up she made me. When I was at my highs she was there with me. Abby is one of a kind teammate, she’s a leader she’s very determined for the better of herself but most importantly her teams.”
Outside of athletics, Ross serves as the 2026–27 vice president of Rattan FFA and values the strong sense of community in her hometown.
“Everyone in Rattan is nice and respectful, when someone needs a hand somebody is going to be on the way to help.”
Above all, Ross credits her mother as her biggest influence and support system.
“She has been my biggest supporter in everything I do,” Ross said. “She is the strongest person I know… I don’t know where I’d be without her.”
