Under the leadership of head coach Josh Talley, the Coalgate Wildcats are entering the season with determination to turn things around. Coming off a challenging season, they have put in the work, and are more focused than ever. The goal this year is to play hard every game, improve on both ends of the floor, and keep a positive attitude no matter the outcome.” The key to their success this year will be teamwork, resilience, and the discipline to stick to their game plan.
Leading the roster is Tate Diaz, an exceptionally versatile player who has made a strong impression on the coaching staff and fans alike. Tate brings both athleticism and court awareness, making him a crucial asset for the Wildcats. “Tate is a very athletic guard who can play any spot on the floor if needed. He has a really good work ethic and wants to be the best. He can shoot the three or get to the basket. His length and jumping ability make him hard to guard,” Talley said.
Joining Diaz in leadership is Tristin Travathan who adds senior experience and physicality in the paint. Known for his strong presence under the rim, Travathan’s rebounding and ability to score on close-range shots will play a critical role in the Wildcats’ offensive and defensive strategies.
Another standout to watch is Seven Williams, a young yet promising guard who took on a significant role last year as a freshman. Over the offseason, Williams focused on sharpening his skills as the team’s point guard, working to improve his ball-handling and playmaking. “He has worked really hard this off season to become the point guard. He will only get better with more experience. He has a bright future ahead of him.” As the season unfolds, Williams’s quick growth as a player is expected to further strengthen the Wildcats.
The 2024-25 season marks a new chapter for Coalgate basketball. With coach Talley at the helm and a roster filled with talented players, the Wildcats are ready to compete, learn, and improve every step of the way.
