Tushka’s Addison Karn – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Unstoppable Gymnastics

Leadership doesn’t always come from volume or flash—sometimes it shows up in the quiet consistency of a senior who refuses to cut corners. For Tushka guard Addison Karn, this season is her final chance to pour everything she has into the game she loves, and she’s approaching it with purpose. “My personal goals this season are to play freely, and to be an exceptional leader for my team as a senior,” she says. “I want to make all the plays I can… and not hesitate to follow my instincts so I can truly play my game.”

That mindset is strengthened by a tight-knit locker room. Addison can’t help but brag on her group: “Team morale this year at Tushka could not be any better. I absolutely love this group of girls… our bond this year is something I will always cherish.” Their chemistry, she says, has become their greatest improvement. “We are so close and never hesitate to help someone up… the effort and the want to this year is amazing.”

The team motto—b-all-in—defines the identity they’ve built. “We refuse to get lazy and find excuses to not be our best,” Addison says. “We want to do every single thing possible to win… holding each other accountable in practice, and making sure every single girl is hustling.”

As a point guard and shooting guard, with occasional high-post duties, Addison’s approach is strategic. “I first look to see if they’re in man or zone… if there are any gaps, I look to drive,” she explains. Her preparation is equally intentional. “I make sure I get good rest, eat well, and take vitamins… and I practice game speed and take game shots.”

When she steps onto the floor, her focus sharpens. “My mindset… is to make every play possible,” she says. “I want to be an absolute pest on defense… and get my team going when they need some inspiration.”

Her legacy matters deeply. “I want my girls to look out for each other when I’m gone… and be remembered as the person who worked the hardest, all the time.”

And while outsiders may overlook their youth, Addison sees potential. “Most of the girls… have not had a lot of experience… but these girls have done an amazing job stepping up.”

Whether she’s leading a comeback—like the one she cherishes against Latta—or leading her school as president of FCCLA, NHS, and her class, Addison understands impact.
