
VYPE: Can you introduce yourself and tell us your grade and how long you’ve been playing baseball?
Maddox Arnold: I’m in 12th grade and I’ve been playing baseball since I was four.
VYPE: What position do you play and what is your role on the team?
MA: I’m mainly a designated hitter and my role is to put the ball in play and score my buddies.
VYPE: How do you handle adversity during a game?
MA: When things aren’t going my way, I take a deep breath and clear my mind.
VYPE: Is there a moment that changed you as a player?
MA: My sophomore year I got thrown into a game with bases loaded, two outs, down by two. I hit a stand-up double to win the game. That moment changed me.
VYPE: What is your approach when you step up to the plate?
MA: My approach when I step up to the plate is to do the best I can for the team.

VYPE: How important is the mental side of baseball and why?
MA: Baseball is a whole mental game. You can be the best player out there but have a terrible mindset, and vice versa.
VYPE: What is something you do that doesn’t always show up on the stat sheet?
MA: Cheering on others even when I have a bad game.
VYPE: What advice would you give younger players?
MA: Be the best player you can and play for your teammates around you.
VYPE: What do you hope people say about you when your career is over?
MA: I hope people remember how great of a teammate I was, as well as my drive and my love for the game.
