Coach: James Culbreath

With several key players returning from last year’s state tournament team, the Caddo Bruins are ready to make another postseason push under head coach James Culbreath.
“We have several good pieces coming back from last year’s state tournament team,” said Culbreath. “With our ability to throw strikes and play good defense behind our pitchers, we’re looking forward to another good spring. Offensively, being competitive at the plate and having the capability to play some small ball or drive balls in the gap provides us with some diversity throughout our lineup. We are hoping to put together another good run this spring.”
Leading the way for the Bruins are Cale Wigington and Jake McKay, who both bring experience and all-around production to the diamond. “Cale Wigington is a senior and our returning catcher,” Culbreath said. “He does a great job with our pitching staff. He is a great receiver of the ball and keeps runners in check on the bases. Cale also is one of our better hitters. He bats in the middle of the lineup and has gap-to-gap power and also hits at a high average.”
On the infield, McKay serves as a versatile threat on both sides of the ball. “Jake McKay is a junior and is our starting shortstop,” said Culbreath. “Jake is one of the most instinctive baseball players you will see. He has the ability to make game-changing plays on the field and excels at making the routine plays. Jake is also one of our returning starting pitchers.”
One of the Bruins’ rising talents, Bayler Black, will play a key role in the team’s lineup this spring. “Bayler is a sophomore returning catcher,” Culbreath said. “He also did a great job with our pitching staff as a freshman. Bayler will be a middle-of-the-order type hitter for us this spring.”
Senior Kale Brister also returns to bolster the rotation and infield versatility. “Kale is one of our returning starting pitchers and can play anywhere on the infield,” said Culbreath.
With leadership, depth, and a proven ability to defend and pitch effectively, the Bruins aim to make another deep postseason run.
