Durant’s Emma Green – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Simmons Bank

Some seasons are defined not just by wins and losses, but by growth, healing, and purpose. For Durant senior Emma Green, this year is about all three. “My personal goals for this season are to grow as a player and as a person, and to create lifelong memories that I can take with me beyond high school.”

Durant enters the year with determination and clarity. “Our team has had a very positive and high achieving mindset heading into this year because we know what we want to accomplish and what we have to do to get there,” Emma said. That shared mindset has fueled steady improvement.

Their biggest mission is a historic one. “Our biggest goal is to be the first girls’ team in Durant history to bring home a state title,” she said. “We’ve been constantly working towards this goal by getting in the gym and overall, just working together and trusting each other to take us there.”

On the court, Emma plays shooting guard. “When reading a defense, I look for openings and gaps that can lead to wide open shots or easy cuts where passes can be made to an easy bucket.” Her preparation is intentional. “I make sure to get in the gym extra so I can get up shots, so my arm is ready. I also rest and stay hydrated so I can do the best I can on the court.”

Her mindset carries deep meaning. “When I step on the court, all that goes through my mind is how to use that game to honor God, Coach Rob, and CJ, and also make Papa Rob proud.” She added, “It is definitely different without them, but I choose to remind myself to play for them before every game, and to also have fun.”

Emma hopes her legacy is built on heart. “I want to leave a legacy of compassion and kindness. I have constantly tried to make everyone feel loved and cherished.”

Fans may not realize just how fiercely united this team has become. “We chose to come closer together and create a bond, not only with each other, but with the entire Robinson family. This leads us to strive to accomplish things beyond anyone’s imagination.”

Emma Green plays basketball and serves as the Executive Vice President of Student Council. After high school, she plans to attend the University of Oklahoma and pursue a degree in sonography to become an OB/GYN Ultrasound Technician.
