ATOKA WAMPUS CATS
Coach: LUKE RING
2-8
Atoka heads into 2026 with a young roster that now has a full year of varsity experience and a clear sense of where it needs to improve. Ring says they are “bringing back the majority of our group from last season and will still be a relatively young team,” and the staff is “very excited about the progress the players have made” as they move toward the fall. With nine starters returning on both sides of the ball, the Wampus Cats expect better execution, depth and consistency across the season.
Offensively, Atoka wants to use the entire field and vary tempo to keep defenses uncomfortable. Ring explains they “want to keep defenses on their heels by spreading the field vertically and horizontally, while also playing at various tempos,” building around sophomore QB Konner Ritchie (6-0, 185) and a massive young line featuring center Jayden Stanley (6-0, 270), tackle Braylon Granger (6-8, 350) and guard Parker Beck (6-2, 300), with Michael Miller (6-0, 170) on the perimeter and RB Gage Crenshaw (5-9, 155) in the backfield.
Defensively, the Wampus Cats will base out of multiple fronts designed to create disruption rather than sit back and react. Ring describes the unit as a “multiple front” defense that works to “create disruption and attack opposing offenses,” led by senior edge rushers Andrez Garcia (6-1, 205) and Chris Finley (6-1, 265), steady linebacker Lucas Johnson (5-9, 205), and a secondary keyed by corner Brody Kinard and young safeties Kase Horton and Brock Smith.
