Silo High School senior Kyler Proctor is a guy who has seen it all and done it all as far as baseball is concerned for the Rebels.
A four-year starter, Proctor has been a part of three spring baseball championships and one fall championship where he hit the game-winning home run in the title game in 2021.
“That’s certainly the highlight of my high school career,” said Proctor. “Also, last spring in regionals I pitched into the seventh inning, and we were ahead 7-3 when I left for a relief pitcher. But the other guys loaded the bases, and I came back in and got a ground out to save the game for us.”
His coach, Billy Jack Bowen, had nothing but praise for his pitcher/shortstop.
“He’s a great player who has excelled everywhere he’s been. He’s going to play at Oklahoma State next year as a shortstop and I think he’s got a great chance to be a pro prospect. He’s a great leader as a senior and has pitched in all of our big games in his four years here and loves playing in the spotlight.”
In addition to baseball, Proctor is also the point guard on the Rebels basketball team though he admits that basketball is more a way to fill time between the spring and fall baseball seasons. Baseball is his way of life and he started on that path when he was young.
“I started out just picking up a bat and ball and hitting it everywhere and I decided it was fun and I’d like to play. I started with T-ball and just moved up and started playing travel ball when I was six or seven. I just love playing with my friends and competing. I moved to Silo when I was in fourth grade and my coaches along the way have always been my role models, especially coach Bowen here in high school.”
