For Caddo senior Cale Wigington, baseball isn’t just about results — it’s about pushing limits and building a lasting legacy.
“Some of my personal goals are leading the state in average, slugging and OPS and other major hitting categories,” Wigington said. “I was top five in them all last year and I want to set the bar high this year, so I hope to accomplish that. I also want to grow more as a leader and a player learning all that I can before I go off to play college baseball.”
That leadership shows in Caddo’s team chemistry. “The team morale has been great!” Wigington said. “We just had a kid transfer back from Caddo, and he was a big part of what we were able to accomplish last year, so that was really big for us — especially with returning seven out of our nine starters. We bring back a mature and confident group that is ready to get the job done.”

For Wigington, the goals are clear. “Our big goals this year consist of being the team at the end of the year that’s holding up that state championship trophy,” he said. “Also, being a more polished ball club and minimizing mistakes in big games and just controlling what we can control.”
He said one of the Bruins’ strongest assets comes at the plate. “I would say our biggest strength is our lineup,” Wigington said. “1-9 are a bunch of guys who know how to do it all. We can all bunt, hit gap to gap and hit for power. I don’t think you’ll find a more well-rounded lineup in Class A or even in the state of Oklahoma.”
As for his place in that lineup, Wigington thrives under pressure. “My mindset when I step on the field has always been the same — it’s that I’m the best one on the field and that there is nothing that anyone can do about it,” he said.
Looking ahead, Wigington hopes to leave a mark on the program that extends beyond statistics. “I want my legacy to be at Caddo for the guys who come after me is that no matter how hard it may get and no matter how crazy or impossible your goals may seem, that if you work hard enough and have a group of people that really believe in you, anything is possible,” he said.
